Describe each stage of the machine cycle
List the movements the hydraulic circuit must perform and the time spent moving, working under load and holding. Identify which functions operate together. The highest flow demand and highest pressure demand may occur at different times.
Ask the equipment designer for the required operating points. If you only have cylinder dimensions or machine output figures, present those as inputs for engineering review rather than treating them as a complete pump specification.
Connect flow to the available drive
Record actual pump-shaft speed and whether it varies during operation. Theoretical flow follows displacement and speed, while delivered flow also depends on volumetric efficiency at the operating condition.
Use the flow calculator as a preliminary estimate. A proposed operating point still needs to satisfy the pump’s speed, pressure, fluid and inlet limits, and the available drive capability.
Close the installation and procurement gaps
Supply mounting, shaft, rotation, port and space requirements together with the specified fluid and temperature range. For a multi-section assembly, describe each section’s duty and the circuit connections.
Include quantity, destination and required inspection records. Clearly separate required values from estimates and unknowns. This makes it easier to resolve missing information without silently substituting a different configuration.
